Ranvet is an Australian veterinary company that has been formulating for racehorses and racing greyhounds since 1963, and most of its range still reflects that origin: electrolytes, blood builders, buffers, oils and topical wound care sized for a stable or kennel rather than a single pet. Everything here is manufactured in Australia, and a good part of the range carries APVMA registration.
Where to start — the range splits cleanly by species and by job:
- Daily minerals and vitamins for horses — Salkavite for electrolytes plus B-group, Aminovite Plus for a broad multivitamin, Folactin Blue for stabled horses on grain and Folactin Red for breeding stock.
- Working and recovery — Electrolyte Replacer, Recovery-Aid Powder and Neutrolene for the acid load after hard work.
- Hoof, joint and topline — Hoof Food, Flexi-Joint Plus and Topline FX.
- Wound and skin care — White Healer for greasy heel and mud fever, Yellow Lotion for proud flesh, Fungazol Cream where a fungal infection has been diagnosed.
- Greyhounds and working dogs — BloodMAX, Salka-Lite, Sprint Oil, K-Max and the Worm Free Allwormer tablets.
Most powders come in a small pack for one horse and a 15-20kg drum for a yard, so check the dose rate against the number of animals before buying the large size. Several of the oils and disinfectants are also sold in 205L drums and 10kg pails on special order.
