Royal Canin Wet Dog Food

Royal Canin wet dog food comes in four pack formats, and the format is chosen by the size of the dog rather than by preference. The 85g pouch is a meal for a toy or small breed and a topper for anything bigger, sold as a 12-pouch box or a 48-pouch case — the case is the same pouch in bulk, not a different recipe. The 140g x 10 pouch pack suits Medium and Maxi dogs. Cans come in 195g x 12 for small dogs and 410g x 12 for Medium and Maxi.

Texture is the other split. Loaf is a firm pâté that holds its shape and mixes cleanly through kibble; gravy is smaller pieces in more sauce, which is useful for a dog that needs some encouragement at the bowl. Nutritionally the two sit in the same place — pick on what your dog will actually finish.

Worth knowing before you switch: wet food is roughly three-quarters water, so it does not swap gram-for-gram with kibble. If you are mixing rather than replacing, take the kibble portion down accordingly or the day's total quietly climbs. Royal Canin's canned Mother & Babydog Starter Mousse is a weaning and late-pregnancy food rather than an everyday adult meal, so read that one as a life-stage product, not a treat.
