Royal Canin Dry Dog Food

Every Royal Canin dry dog food we stock, in bags from 500g to 15kg. The range divides three ways, and knowing which division you are shopping in makes the choice much faster. There are breed lines — Labrador Retriever, German Shepherd, French Bulldog, Chihuahua, Dachshund, Shih Tzu, Poodle, Pug and around a dozen more. There are size lines for every dog that is not one of those breeds: Mini, Medium, Maxi and Giant. And there are care lines that sit inside the size lines: Dental Care, Digestive Care, Dermacomfort, Light Weight Care, Relax Care and, on Maxi only, Joint Care.

If your dog is a crossbreed, start with size rather than breed, and size means adult weight, not what the scales say today. Mini is up to 10kg, Medium 11–25kg, Maxi 26–44kg and Giant 45kg and over. This is the single most common mistake we see: a five-month Labrador already weighing 12kg belongs on Maxi Puppy, not Medium Adult. Kibble changes with the line too — Mini kibble is small enough for a toy jaw, Maxi kibble is large enough that a big dog has to chew rather than swallow.

Buy the bag you will finish in about six weeks. Dry food loses fat quality once the bag is opened, and a small dog eating under 100g a day will take five months to work through a 15kg bag. Keep it in its own bag inside a container rather than tipping the kibble loose into a bin — the liner is part of how the fat is protected.
