Carbon is usually the first thing a planted tank runs short of, and it shows up as stalled growth and algae taking the nutrients the plants could not use. Animal Wellbeing's Liquid Carbon puts bioavailable carbon straight into the water column so plants can photosynthesise properly without a pressurised CO2 rig. Worth being clear about the limit: the brand's own heavy-planting dose assumes you also run CO2 injection, so treat this as the answer for low and medium-light tanks rather than a replacement for gas in a high-tech scape.
Available in 125ml, 250ml, 500ml and 1L. See the rest of the Animal Wellbeing range, or browse all Fish Supplies.
Benefits
- Fixes carbon deficiency — raises organic carbon in the water column, which is what stunted, slow-growing plants are usually missing.
- Better use of light and fertiliser — with carbon available, plants convert existing light and nutrients more efficiently.
- Less algae by competition — plants that can actually grow take up the nutrients algae would otherwise use.
- pH buffered — the buffer system holds water chemistry steady while dosing.
- Australian made — manufactured in Australia by Animal Wellbeing.
Ingredients
Demineralised water, balanced bioavailable carbon compounds, natural carbon stabilisers.
Directions for Use
Dose three times a week, straight into the tank, by planting density: light planting 1ml per 100L, medium planting 2ml per 100L, heavy planting with CO2 injection 3–4ml per 100L. Animal Wellbeing recommends keeping CO2 between 10 and 35 mg/L and doing a 50% water change weekly. Always follow the dose rate printed on the bottle.
Safety
For aquarium use only. Not for human consumption — keep out of reach of children and pets, and seek medical advice immediately if swallowed. Do not overdose, as it stresses fish; keep circulation running while dosing and watch fish behaviour afterwards.
