Teat SD is a latex teat with a short nipple, for small dogs, and for possums and gliders. The short nipple is the difference between this and Teat LD, which carries a medium nipple for the larger animals in the same group.
Making the hole and feeding safely
Correct feeding technique differs between species, so guidance should be obtained from experienced carers. Teats come without a hole: pierce the tip with a hot needle to make one about 1 mm in diameter, then invert the bottle and check that milk drips slowly. Very small animals can be fed with a syringe and the teat pulled over the end, which gives greater control of milk flow. Wash in warm soapy water, dry, and store away from light.
